India has one of the most capable and best-trained military force in the world. Our military is capable of protecting our nation, deterring potential military challenges, responding to any crisis that endangers our security, and prevailing in any conflict we are forced to fight. We need to ensure that India has a modern, agile military force that is capable to meet the diverse challenges of the twenty-first century.
- Section 12.1 - India should continue to monitor the political and military developments in adjoining countries, which have direct bearing on India’s national security and in the formulation of our foreign policy.
- Section 12.2 - India should work closely with other countries to limit the supply of military hardware to Pakistan, mostly from European countries, the USA and China.
- Section 12.3 - We need to transform India’s national security institutions to meet the challenges and opportunities of the twenty-first century.
- Section 12.4 - We need to take special efforts to promote freedom of religion and conscience and defend it from encroachment.
- Section 12.5 - We must strengthen our police forces, court systems, and legal codes, local and state government institutions.
- Section 12.6 - We must strengthen intelligence warning and analysis to provide integrated threat assessments for national security.
- Section 12.7 - Our priority should be first to disrupt and destroy terrorist organizations and attack their leadership; command, control, and communications; material support; and finances.
- Section 12.8 - We should continue to provide assistance for the development, maintenance, and improvement of state and local emergency management capabilities.
