Natural disasters, emergencies, crimes, and the threat of terrorist attacks require rapid response and comprehensive planning, from public safety agencies.
- Section 14.1 - The public safety departments should ensure that all employees comply with all laws and policies regarding ethical conduct.
- Section 14.2 - We need to focus on development of institutions capable of providing security to the citizens in a manner consistent with human rights and the rule of law.
- Section 14.3 - Emergency services should be prepared to respond to large-scale disasters that requires a cooperative response from all public safety agencies.
- Section 14.4 - We need to make progress in a number of critical areas, including use-of-force reform; better training, equipment and technology and a more robust community policing strategy.
- Section 14.5 - We need to influence public safety policy to provide for real public safety with appropriate punishment which includes prevention, intervention, rehabilitation, and opportunities.
- Section 14.6 - We need to work towards having a police force that protects the citizens fairly, abides by the rule of law, maintains public safety and uses violence only as a last resort.
- Section 14.7 - We need to improve our public safety departments so that they can provide effective direction to the companies about their responsibilities and roles in providing a safe and healthy workplace.
